• Keep the tree at least three feet away from any heat sources, including radiators, fireplaces, heat vents, candles, and lights.
• Do not place your tree in front of an exit to ensure that you can get out in case of an emergency in your house.
• Lights are either rated for indoor or outdoor use, not for both. Make sure to only use lights that are rated for indoor use when decorating your tree.
• Inspect each sting of lights before putting them on your tree. Throw out any lights that are frayed or have loose connections.
• Never use a lit candle to decorate your tree. If you like the look of candles on your tree, use a battery operated candle.
• Before you go to bed at the end of the night make sure that all of the lights on your tree are turned off.
