Veterans Day is November 11th.  On this day, reflect on the brave service and noble sacrifices that members of the United States Armed Forces have made is defense of our country.  This Veterans Day, make sure you show your appreciation for the veteran community by trying out these suggestions.

1) Attend and Event

There are many fundraisers, parades, and other events held in honor of Veterans Day.  Take this opportunity to gather friends and family and attend an event to show your support for the veteran community.  Simply showing up will show our veterans how much you care.

2) Donate

One of the easiest ways to get involved this Veterans Day is by donating to one of the many organizations that provide support and services to the veteran community.  For instance, charities such as Operation Gratitude accept donations of goods to make care packages to distribute to veterans.  Additionally, there are many organizations deserving of your financial support.  Some of the charities you should check out include DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Wounded Warrior Project, and Homes for Our Troops.

3) Reach Out

Finally, the best way to say thanks this Veterans Day is to personally reach out to the veteran community.  Many of us have family and friends who have served.  So, on Veterans Day, make an effort to reach out and personally thank them for their service.  Additionally, many patients in VA (Veterans Affairs) hospitals do not receive regular visitors.  That’s why it’s so important to reach out and visit your local VA hospital.  This Veterans Day, the gift of your company and conversation will show the veteran community how thankful you are.
